Bull Fighting season has begun in The Azores! We went to our first arena bullfight! Unlike Spain and Mexico, the bulls are not killed here. After the fight their wounds are treated and they are allowed to recover. The art of bullfighting was very neat to watch and this particular fight that we went to was done on horseback! The horses are beautiful and put on a great show. There was a live band and a great atmosphere. It made me think of being at a baseball game at home. It's there idea of a great time outside. Soon the bullfights in the streets will begin. Americans cannot participate but they can watch!
