Well...when I wrote last I was in SC visiting family and had found a house in Colorado Springs. Since then......
I returned to the Azores mid-June just in time for the movers to begin packing all of our "stuff." We remained in our house after our stuff was gone and enjoyed our last few weeks getting out and about on the island. We were also fortunate enough to be able to visit Sao Miguel, the largest of the Azorean islands. It was a great experience. The week before we left we enjoyed a great celebration for July 4th with great friends. Somehow in the last weeks we also aquired a "pet" duck that showed up at our home. Fortunately, we left him back in the Azores for our neighbor to keep! The time to leave came quickly and it was bittersweet. We loved our time there but are also excited about our future. Our time in the Azores will always be remembered. A beautiful place with beautiful people.
We officially landed on US soil July 10. We were able to spend about 5 days with our families and then we were on the road to our new home...Colorado Springs. After 1500 miles and 24 hours of driving we made it. The best part is that our parents came with us!As I said before Justin had not seen the house but lucky for me he liked it! We spent the next week painting, unpacking, organizing, cleaning, and all that other stuff you do when you move. Before our parents left to go back to SC we did give them a little break to sight see. This place is beautiful and we can't wait to explore more!
Since being here, Justin has been busy at work but is enjoying his job. I found a job working part-time at a local hospital in the PACU. We are starting to meet people and look forward to all the wonderful things there are to discover.
Well...that a quick synopsis of our lives the past 3 months. It was fun, tiring, and a little crazy but we are loving our new place!4th of July in the Azores
