Justin made it home and we are so glad to have him back! Drake is growing like a weed and is full of energy. The weather here in Colorado has been amazing these last two weeks so we have been out and about.
Drake and I went for a hike on Wednesday on the Barr Trail. This is a trail that eventually goes all the way up Pikes Peak. No, we didn't go all the way because if we did we proboably still wouldn't be back! This was Drake's first hike so we took it slow. He had a blast and was great. He even hiked off the leash and stayed right with me! We ended our hike and met Justin for lunch at the base.
Drakes's First Hike
Drake did so well with his first hike we decided to go back Saturday and take Justin. We went about 1 hour Southwest of our house to a trail called Horse Theif Falls. The trail was great with creeks and running water along the way. It was about a 2 mile hike one way but he never slowed down. We met many furry friends along the trail and at the end we were greeted by a beautiful waterfall. Unfortunately it stared to thunder so we had to head back down the trail to beat the storm. The scenery was beautiful and fall was all around us. The colorful trees mixed in with the Aspen trees were beautiful. The scenery driving there and back was great too but unfortunatley my camera could not do it justice from the car. We hope Drakes is as good of a hunter as he is a hiker!
We ended our adventures for the weekend today at the Air Force Academy. After going for a scenic walk we foud a pond to play in. Drake loved it. After splashing in the water and fetching sticks close to the shore Drake got brave a went for a stick a little farther out. Needless to say, he can swim and made it back to shore. I think he was a little shocked that the ground went away and he still floated! Once he came back to land he was done for the day!
I wish may of you could experience a portion of the beauty we see but I hope you enjoy the pictures. We you look at some of the scenery out here there is no way to believe that anyone but God created it!
